Can we customize they way it chats?
Yep. In the dashboard you can give it a custom personality prompt — tell it to be blunt, formal, funny, act as a coach, whatever tone you want — and set its name, language and greeting. The bot itself is yours (you create it via BotFather), so the avatar and handle are your call too. On top of that it adapts to you over time through what it remembers.
Really cool concept, having it live inside Telegram removes so much friction. How does the long term memory work in practice, does it stay within a single chat or can it recall context from months ago if I ask about something we discussed before?
Thanks! The long-term memory isn't tied to a single chat window — it's a set of facts the assistant keeps about you (name, city, preferences, ongoing stuff) stored permanently, not just the last N messages. So if you mention something now and come back weeks later, it still knows it. What it won't do is replay a full transcript from months ago word-for-word — it keeps the facts that matter, not every message. You can always see the exact list with /memory.

I like that VELA stays inside Telegram instead of requiring users to switch to a separate app. The long-term memory and Google Workspace integration seem especially useful for people who already spend most of their day in Telegram. Thank you! Two layers. Short-term chat context you can wipe anytime with /clear. Long-term facts (name, city, prefs) — /memory shows everything it knows, "forget that…" drops any of it, /about adds. Same delete controls in the web dashboard. Full review, edit and clear, all on your side.
