Hey Fazier! Omegle shut down in 2023 and nothing since has scratched the same itch — most "alternatives" are either bot farms or dating apps wearing a chat UI. Purrlyne is the version I wanted: type an interest (optional), hit Next, talk to someone new. Or skip the 1-on-1 entirely and hang out in a themed public room. Free, works in-browser, real moderation (a person reviews reports, not just a keyword filter). Would love to hear what's missing compared to what you used to use.

Quick update: we just launched a Discord for Purrlyne! It's where we post updates before they hit the site and take feedback directly — video chat and a native mobile app are both in the works. Join here: https://discord.gg/rXPs9jgDv
Interest-based matching is the right fix for the random-chat dropoff problem. Two questions: how do you verify the interests people claim (self-reported tags tend to drift), and is there any moderation layer for the matching itself? Safety is usually what kills these products.
Is this a random chat with a stranger or an interest-based matching app? If so, how are you matching them? interested to know
This is due to a bug, in the Fazier application. this is a comment from another startup. it resulted here. Hey Fazier please fix it.

Both, kind of: it's a stranger-chat app like Omegle, but instead of pure random pairing you can type an interest (optional) and we match you with someone who typed the same thing. If you leave it blank, or nobody shares your interest, you get matched with anyone in the queue. There are also public rooms if you'd rather join a group instead of a 1-on-1.
This actually looks fun. One thing I'm curious about: how do you handle the cold-start problem when someone enters a niche interest but there aren't enough matching users online? Do you gradually broaden the match, keep them waiting or fall back to random matching?
Building PZERO, saving you money - pzero.studio
Nice one on launch day. Super useful if you want to talk about a niche interest with someone who typed the same thing. If you later want AI on another project, discounted rates are at pzero.studio.
The interest matching is smart, but I wonder what happens when you type something super niche and nobody else is online. Do you just wait forever or does it fall back to random people? That cold-start problem seems tricky to solve.

A very good app with a simple and user-friendly experience. Everything feels well designed and works as expected. Highly recommended.
Purrlyne is a genuinely interesting take on the stranger-chat concept. I especially like the interest-based matching because it gives conversations a better chance of having an actual starting point instead of relying entirely on random luck. The combination of 1-on-1 chats, public rooms, and built-in reporting/blocking also makes the product feel more thoughtfully designed. I’m curious about how the matching system handles interests over time does it learn from skips and conversations, or is matching mainly based on the interests users enter? Also, how are you planning to maintain moderation quality as the user base grows?
Purrlyne Your product has strong potential, but I found a few key improvements that could make it even better. I'd love to share my feedback and suggestions—please contact me at [email protected].

The interest-matching angle beats pure randomness for conversation quality. Most chat apps just throw people together and hope; matching on actual interests means you skip the awkward "so what do you do" phase and jump straight to conversation that matters to both people. The friction cost of finding someone worth talking to usually kills the conversation before it starts - most people won't swipe 50 times for one good chat. If this actually surfaces compatible people quickly, it solves the real problem that makes most stranger-chat apps feel hollow.
