Good call organizing it by category instead of one long list, that is what makes a directory usable. Two questions: how do newsletters get selected (editorial review, minimum subscribers?), and could you show the sending frequency on each card? For travel newsletters, knowing if it lands weekly or daily is often what decides whether I subscribe.
A curated, category-based newsletter directory is a nice alternative to digging through Substack search, which tends to surface only the biggest names. Including newsletter tools and e-books alongside the listings makes it useful for writers as well as readers. Do you plan to add a way for readers to filter by free vs. paid newsletters?

Bundling newsletter tools and e-books next to the directory itself is a smart touch, since a lot of readers eventually become writers. It would be great to see a short sample issue or 'latest headline' preview on each card so I can judge tone before subscribing. Is there a way for newsletter authors to submit or claim their listing?

Building PZERO, saving you money - pzero.studio
Sorting the newsletters by category, with newsletter tools and e-books listed alongside, makes it easy to browse for one topic without wading through a single giant list. If your team ever wants to trim what it spends on AI, PZERO is worth a look at pzero.studio.
A simple one stop shop for all newsletters. Nice.

The category pages are the part with the most potential: each has its own URL (/category/marketing), and that's what people actually search for, "best marketing newsletters", not a directory's name. Right now the H1 there is just "Marketing", and all 58 category names sit above the first newsletter, so someone arriving from Google sees a wall of labels before any newsletter. An H1 like "Marketing newsletters", the count, and one line on how you picked them, with the category list moved below, would make every one of those pages work much harder.
